Hello Hired is recruiting a suitably qualified Senior Accountant for a confidential client operating within the commercial livestock, feedlot, crop farming and logistics sectors.
This is an exciting opportunity for an analytical and detail-oriented finance professional to play a key role in financial management, cost control, budgeting and operational performance. Working closely with the management team, the successful candidate will contribute to financial planning and reporting across multiple operational divisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage weekly reconciliations across feed, medicine, workshop, chemicals, seed and diesel accounts.
- Prepare month-end reconciliations, accruals, provisions and work-in-progress reports.
- Compile and review management accounts, budgets and financial forecasts.
- Monitor expenditure, ensure accurate cost allocations and provide financial feedback to management.
- Prepare profitability analyses, return-on-investment calculations, break-even analyses and operational costing reports.
- Monitor diesel usage and prepare SARS diesel refund claims.
- Review purchasing requisitions, quotations and invoice analyses against approved budgets.
- Oversee stock-taking activities and monitor medicine stock levels.
- Assist with asset purchases, sales, insurance documentation and operational administration.
- Contribute to annual planning and monitor key performance indicators against targets.
Minimum Requirements
- BCom Accounting degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
- At least three years of relevant accounting experience, including reconciliations, month-end procedures and management accounts.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Working knowledge of Sage Pastel.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Afrikaans.
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines and handle a demanding workload.
Advantageous Experience
- Previous experience in agriculture, livestock production or a feedlot environment.
- Knowledge of SARS diesel refund requirements.
- Experience in costing, budgeting, profitability assessments and ROI analysis.
- Willingness to work alongside operational teams in the field and participate in weekend duty rosters.
